In another, an IT department chose to ignore warning lights on their servers informing them that one of the drives had failed. Within a few weeks, the problem spread to a second drive, leaving the data inaccessible. The firm said: "Despite best efforts to prevent disasters, data loss still happens due to hardware failure, software corruption, computer viruses, natural disasters and of course human error."
